Serious Materials employs more than 135 people at its corporate Newark, CA Serious Materials operates a rail loading facility and 12 acre plant dedicated to producing QuietRock® soundproofing drywall and accessory products that reduce material use, enhance livability, and support dense sustainable urban construction. Boulder, Colorado Serious Materials operates a 15,000 square feet of space producing energy-saving glass. The company doubled its manufacturing capacity in December 2008, adding a 36,000+ square feet plant in Longmont, CO. Both plants produce super-insulating windows and commercial glass, SeriousWindows™ and SeriousGlass™. Longmont, Colorado Serious Materials runs a 36,9555 square foot manufacturing plant that produces super-insulating windows and commercial glass, SeriousWindows™ and SeriousGlass™. This is in addition to Serious Materials’ existing 15,000 square feet of space at 5400 Spine Road in Boulder, formerly Alpen Windows, Inc., which has been producing leading energy-saving glass for more than 27 years. Vandergrift, PA Serious Materials acquired assets of former Kensington Windows in January 2009, based in Vandergrift, PA. Kensington employed more than 150 people when they were forced to shut down all operations in October 2008. Two weeks after the acquisition by Serious Materials, the 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space is producing SeriousWindows™ and SeriousGlass™ with newly installed equipment, and a growing number of former Kensington employees are reemployed by Serious Materials. At full production, Serious Materials expects to create at least 120 green jobs based in Vandergrift. Chicago, IL We acquired assets of former former Republic Windows and Doors in March 2009.
